About Us

The New York Spine Institute is the only comprehensive Spine Institute and Full Orthopaedic Center on Long Island affiliated with NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases at a State-of-the-Art Facility. This center brings nationally and internationally recognized leaders in orthopaedics, and offers the Long Island community excellence in Orthopaedic Patient Care.

The New York Spine Institute (NYSI) was founded in 2000 by Doctor Alexandre B. de Moura, a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with advance training in the bone and neurological disorders of the spine.

The son of an orthpaedic surgeon, Dr. de Moura followed in his father’s footsteps. His vision was for NYSI to become what it is today, the most comprehensive Spine Institute in Long Island, New York.

Our mission is to provide the highest quality medical care for every spinal problem and disorder. This is accomplished through advanced treatment methods. We stress conservative care such as physical therapy rehabilitation along with pain management. If deemed necessary by our world class surgeons, we will recommend the most appropriate surgery to get you back to normal activities of daily living with your individual needs in mind.

At the New York Spine Institute, we provide the latest diagnostics and medical treatments for every spinal problem. We are the leaders in treatments for routine spinal disorders to complex adult and pediatric spinal conditions.  We set the standard for medical solutions for spinal disorders.
