Acupuncturist

Sharon McDermott received a Master’s of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, magna cum laude. She received her Bachelor’s degree (BA) from Hunter College, magna cum laude.  Sharon is board certified in acupuncture and Chinese herbology and licensed in the State of New York. Sharon’s practice, Healthy Healing focuses on women’s health, fertility, stress and pain reduction.

Sharon has been in private practice for 13 years. She has been an ancillary practitioner at New York Spine Institute in Westbury since 2008.  In August 2013 she opened the Healthy Living Wellness Center in Westbury. Sharon teaches workshops on Chinese medicine at Nassau Community College, Continuing Education Department.

Sharon has served on the board and health committee for Long Island Women’s Agenda (LIWA). She continues her volunteer work at Wantagh Memorial Congregational Church as a Deacon of the church, board member and treasurer of Board of Christian Outreach. Sharon is one of four acupuncturists trained to serve as a volunteer for disaster preparedness in Nassau County’s Medical Reserve Corps.

Sharon continues her studies with in-depth work in effective Chinese medicine pain management, fertility treatment and stress reduction techniques. In addition, she continues to study and practice Qi Gong Cloud Hands style.
