DIAGNOSIS OF YOUR BACK PAIN

 
 
 

If you constantly suffer from back and/or neck pain that interferes with your everyday activities, then it’s time to contact our professional team and begin your pain treatment and your road to recovery.  Our specialists will conduct an initial consultation to learn more about your medical history and pain and provide you with a personalized course of treatment thereafter.

Treatment includes the analysis and assessment of your symptoms and a compilation of your medical facts and history.  Your doctor will also perform a series of tests that are necessary to perform an accurate diagnosis and will thereafter provide you with an effective treatment plan to combat your pain.  Treatment plans can include bracing and physical therapy all the way out to surgical intervention and a variety of other options in between.

Pain management plays a very important role in your treatment and recovery.  Here at the NYSI our back pain doctors provide insight and data to all our Bohemia patients about pain management and the role it will play in achieving their health goals.  Our back pain doctors and surgeons have undergone specialized education which includes assessing, diagnosing and managing various types of pain as well as training in the newest technologies, treatment options and medical diagnostics related to back and neck pain issues.*

PHYSICAL THERAPY

 
 
 

In addition to all the other treatment options and services our doctors provide, the neck specialists here at NYSI prescribe physical therapy treatments that help patients to experience a a successful rehabilitation and quick road to recovery.  When patients undergo surgeries, whether they are minimally invasive or invasive, their surgeries must be followed up with physical therapy that is necessary for recovery. Often times physical therapy will assist a patient with movement and mobility, decreases pain, restores function, and limits disability in individuals with injuries or impairments.*  

Our licensed physical therapist, Michael Friar, D.P.T., leads our team of professional therapists and works closely with all of our neck specialists and back doctors.  Together they develop a personalized physical therapy treatment which may include proper stretching, exercise, and manual therapy as well as instructions on the use of home exercises, body mechanics and postural awareness, all of which help in preventing injuries from recurring.    

Physical therapy prescribed by Michael Friar includes a combination of cardio and weight machines that specifically target strength and endurance training.  Our Bohemia patients are properly evaluated by one of our licensed physical therapists and pain thresholds, current functioning levels, and any physical restrictions that may exist are identified.  Once this evaluation and assessment is completed a personalized PT plan can be put in place that focuses on patients forward goals.

IMAGING SERVICES FOR BOHEMIA PATIENTS

 
 
 

Here at the NYSI, our is equipped with a state of the art radiology department that includes magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) for diagnosing many types of conditions. We are also equipped with an innovative Digital Radiography (DX) x-ray which, like the MRI, is safe and noninvasive.  Our digital radiology department provides our back doctors and radiologists with all the tools they need to analyze images for bone and soft tissue anatomy.

The high field short bore 1.5T MRI system supports a wide range of clinical applications including but not limited to MRI’s of the Spine, Brain, Abdomen, Pelvis, Shoulder, Knee, Hip, Elbow, Wrist, Hand, Ankle and Foot and helps doctors to evaluate a wide range of musculoskeletal disorders.* The MRI has proven very valuable for diagnosing a broad range of conditions which may not be visible with other imaging methods such as x-ray, ultrasound or CT (Computed Tomography).*  We are also equipped with Long Length Imaging (LLI) for diagnosis and assessment of scoliosis patients.

With a primary goal to provide all our Bohemia patients treating at the NYSI with proper care and personalized treatment plans, our team of doctors want to contribute to the overall recovery of each one of patients.  The atmosphere here at the clinic is relaxing and calming and patients are allowed a choice of music, earplugs and a sleeping mask to make them feel every bit at home.
