Led by licensed physical therapist, Michael Friar, D.P.T., New York Spine Institute is committed to providing our patients with top physical therapy treatment. We will assist and teach you the mechanics on proper stretching, exercise, and manual therapy. We also give our patients needed information on body mechanics, postural awareness, and exercises that can be done at home. Our main goal is to not only help them get back on their feet, but also avoid further injuries.
While undergoing physical therapy here at the NYSI you will also be directed to use a combination of cardio and weight machines to target strength and endurance training. Before starting any program, all patients are evaluated by a licensed physical therapist who will determine present functioning levels, pain threshold and physical restrictions. Based on your evaluation results, Michael Friar, D.P.T., will work with you to create a treatment plan and help you set realistic goals.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) have been proven to be a powerful tool during diagnosing a variety of conditions. MRI’s are painless, safe, and non-invasive, they use magnets and radio waves to capture detailed images of the body, revealing certain diseases that may live within. In comparison to other forms of image tests, like x-rays, ultrasounds, or CT Scans (Computed Tomography), MRI’s can reveal a wider range of conditions.*
To create a calming and relaxing environment we provide patients with their choice of music, earplugs, and a sleeping mask while they undergo their MRI. Equipped with a digital radiography department, we can digitize the captured images for one of our radiologists to analyze the bone and some soft tissue anatomy. We also provide Long Length Imaging (LLI) for further scoliosis assessments.
