New York Spine Institute’s leading edge GE 1.5T system provides our physicians with high quality, in-depth images of anatomy and pathology to help review multiple musculoskeletal disorders. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a non-invasive, and safe diagnostic method, which uses a strong magnetic field and radio waves to create detailed images of various parts of the body. The images from an MRI can help pinpoint where and why pain and diseases are occurring. In some cases an MRI scan picks up more than other imaging methods, like: ultrasounds, x-rays, or CT (Computed Tomography).*
We understand some patients may find themselves anxious before their visit, which is another reason that we work hard to create a calming environment. Our patients receive earplugs, a sleeping mask, and their choice of music to help ease any nerves. Our radiologists have access to digital images of bone and soft tissue anatomy in our digital radiology department, allowing them to properly analyze patients for a diagnosis.
