Premier Scoliosis Treatment Center of Lloyd Harbor
There are millions of people here in the United States that are affected by scoliosis, which is a side to side curvature of the spine, unlike the natural front to back curves of the spine. Smaller, insignificant curves typically do not cause serious problems whereas larger curves in the spine can contribute to a myriad of health issues, including, but not limited to, fatigue, muscle pain, back pain, spinal arthritis, or even breathing issues.
If you are in search of superior scoliosis treatment in the Lloyd Harbor area, then be sure to visit the professionals at the NYSI.
Our spine and back specialists take pride in treating varying degrees and types of scoliosis, from degenerative scoliosis to the more common idiopathic types.
The treatment rendered by our skilled spine doctors is dependent upon the severity of your spine’s curvature. In some instances, our highly skilled back surgeons with years of knowledge and experience located at our nationally ranked NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases,* may need to revert to surgery for some of our patients in Lloyd Harbor.
If you are suffering from ongoing back pain that is constantly disrupting your day to day life, then it’s time to reach out to the back doctors at New York Spine Institute who can provide you with personalized back pain treatment options. Our spine specialists understand the complexities of the spine and provide personalized back or neck pain treatments as needed. Doctors will perform a thorough exam to identify the source of your pain, the extent of your pain and put in place a full diagnosis before recommending treatment options.
We give primary focus to your described symptoms as well as test results when making our diagnosis. There are a wide range of factors that play a role in prescribing appropriate treatment options. Depending on our diagnosis and final assessment, your treatment options can vary from bracing to surgical intervention. We customize each treatment plan to meet the individual needs of all our Lloyd Harbor patients and give focus to non-surgical back pain treatment methods rather than surgical interventions.

“If I can help one person and say you’ll make it through this, go to them, they will help you. I would help you to let you see what it is like on the other side of the fence when someone goes through so much injury and trauma and then in turn, feels like I do. If you can just meet one doctor, please meet Dr. de Moura.”

“I was having severe chronic back pain daily. This went on for almost fifteen years. As soon as I met Dr. Macagno I said, “that’s the guy.” I eventually had a spinal fusion L4/5 and S1. This was a ten-hour procedure. I exceeded both Dr. Macagno and the hospital staff expectations. Instead of walking a few steps, I easily walked the full length of the hospital halls and climbed stairs almost immediately after surgery. I am so happy to have met Dr. Macagno. I sing his praises every day and I always post on social media about how amazing I am doing every year on the anniversary of my surgery.”

Dr.v is a great doctor !!! From day one he has accessed and managed my pain while acknowledging me not only as his patient but as a person as well. Every Dr office should have a Dr. V and the world for patients with pain would be a much better place. I haven’t had a Dr this great since Dr de Mourra who did my surgery In 2013. Thank you Dr de Mourra for referring me to a pain management dr who really cares for my needs as his patient. It has been a tough road . I can now honestly say the road I travel now as a pain patient is much smoother and manageable. Thank you Dr v and NYU.
Even the most mildly invasive surgeries require some degree of physical therapy as part of the rehabilitation process. Physical therapy following back surgery or neck surgery aids patients with their movement and mobility, helps to decrease pain and restore function, and limits disability in individuals with injuries or impairments.* Physical therapy is especially important to those individuals who have lifestyles that put additional strain on their necks or backs. If you have suffered from a neck or back injury, then look to our dedicated back specialists here at the NYSI.
Here at the NYSI our licensed physical therapist, Michael Friar, D.P.T., is committed to providing all our Lloyd Harbor patients with the highest quality physical therapy treatment options. Our team of specialists will offer instruction on proper stretching, exercise, and manual therapy and provide knowledge and insight on body mechanics, postural awareness, and exercises that can be performed at home and will help in preventing further injury.
We combine both cardio and weight machines to target strength and endurance training for all our Lloyd Harbor patients undergoing physical therapy. Before a patient begins a PT program, they must be evaluated by a licensed physical therapist who will determine current functioning levels, pain threshold and physical restrictions that hinder their daily activities. Depending on your evaluation results, Michael Friar, D.P.T. and the team of specialists, will work together to determine the best treatment plan and set practical goals for patients to aim toward.
