SPINE SURGERY & CARE IN LYNBROOK, NY

Neck and back pain can have a wide variety of causes, which is why we recommend seeing one of our neck and back doctors as soon as you begin experiencing intense pain that interrupts your daily activities. Chronic pain caused by a spinal condition is often hard for non-medical professionals to recognize, and symptoms are often referred to simply as “neck or back pain”. Our physicians have decades of experience, giving them the ability to determine the exact cause of your pain. *

New York Spine Institute’s primary mission is to provide each and every patient with a completely personalized treatment plan. We aim to offer multiple treatment options for each client, working together to decide which best fits your individual needs and lifestyle. In any case, surgery is always our last option. If you can experience pain relief with a non-surgical treatment plan, that will always be the route we go. Though our neck and back doctors work tirelessly to provide treatment without surgery, in some cases it may be necessary. *

Types of Spinal Surgeries we offer our Lynbrook patients:

Our surgical department is home to a team of board-certified orthopedic surgeons. Having undergone extensive training in bone and neurological disorders associated with the spine, our spine surgeons are routinely up-to-date with modern medicine. For our surgical patients, the process begins with a pre-operative consultation where a diagnosis and surgical plan are set in place. Your physician will take the time to explain what is going to happen, and answer any questions or concerns you may have. After the surgery is complete, you will once again meet with your surgeon to discuss a post-operative treatment plan.

“If I can help one person and say you’ll make it through this, go to them, they will help you. I would help you to let you see what it is like on the other side of the fence when someone goes through so much injury and trauma and then in turn, feels like I do. If you can just meet one doctor, please meet Dr. de Moura.”

“I was having severe chronic back pain daily. This went on for almost fifteen years. As soon as I met Dr. Macagno I said, “that’s the guy.” I eventually had a spinal fusion L4/5 and S1. This was a ten-hour procedure. I exceeded both Dr. Macagno and the hospital staff expectations. Instead of walking a few steps, I easily walked the full length of the hospital halls and climbed stairs almost immediately after surgery. I am so happy to have met Dr. Macagno. I sing his praises every day and I always post on social media about how amazing I am doing every year on the anniversary of my surgery.”

Dr.v is a great doctor !!! From day one he has accessed and managed my pain while acknowledging me not only as his patient but as a person as well. Every Dr office should have a Dr. V and the world for patients with pain would be a much better place. I haven’t had a Dr this great since Dr de Mourra who did my surgery In 2013. Thank you Dr de Mourra for referring me to a pain management dr who really cares for my needs as his patient. It has been a tough road . I can now honestly say the road I travel now as a pain patient is much smoother and manageable. Thank you Dr v and NYU.

PHYSICAL THERAPY

Whether your condition requires noninvasive treatment or surgery, we commonly implement physical therapy into our Lynbrook clients’ treatment plans.

Physical therapy is non-operative, accessible to every patient, and easy to incorporate outside of our office. New York Spine Institute is proud to have licensed physical therapist, Michael Friar, D.P.T., as the head of our physical therapy team.

Physical therapy is used to encourage mobility and restore proper bodily functions, especially in those with limited mobility or complete immobility. This is done through stretching, exercise, and manual therapy. Besides the physical aspect, we also believe in the importance of teaching patients proper body mechanics and postural awareness. Additionally, we provide every physical therapy patient with a convenient at-home exercise program, personalized for each individual and what the long-term pain management for their specific condition requires.

Some Lynbrook, NY patients may require more than stretching and basic exercise. Our physical therapy department provides patients with weight and cardio machines for strength and endurance training. New York Spine Institute’s utmost priority is safety, and we recognize strenuous exercise may not be the best choice for everyone. Our licensed physical therapist will evaluate each patient’s current level of function and designate an optimal level of function and realistic goals. This is done with keeping safety and the needs of each individual patient in mind.

IMAGING SERVICES FOR LYNBROOK PATIENTS

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is useful for diagnosing many conditions. It is safe and noninvasive, and helps NYSI to uphold its mission of treating patients with comfort. The digital radiology department allows the radiologist to analyze images for bone and soft tissue anatomy. NYSI diagnostic imaging provides individualized care as well as state-of-the-art diagnostics.

We often opt for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) to aid in diagnosis. The MRI is a commonly used imaging tool that is both noninvasive and safe. High quality images of the inner anatomical structure are produced and analyzed by our team of radiologists in our digital radiology department.

The MRI is the main imaging tool used due to its fast and painless nature, allowing for visibility of inside conditions that may be undetectable otherwise.

Our radiologists serving Lynbrook, NY utilize a high-field short-bore 1.5T MRI system and Digital Radiography (DX) X-Ray technology. The high-field short bore 1.5T MRI system can be used for a wide range of clinical applications, including but not limited to: spine, brain, abdomen, pelvis, shoulder, knee, hip, elbow, wrist, hand, ankle, foot.

The NYSI’s digital radiology department also offers the GE 1.5T system, which produces detailed anatomical pictures used to evaluate musculoskeletal disorders.

Several of the NYSI’s locations house a digital radiography department for the convenience of our Lynbrook, NY patients. This technology is used to exam inner bone and tissue anatomy. In scoliosis patients, we offer Long Length Imaging (LLI), an imaging tool specifically designed for scoliosis.

Our Lynbrook, NY patients are important to us, and we strive to provide them with the most comfortable environment possible. For our patients, we offer the option to play music, or provide earplugs and a sleeping mask. We believe we can only truly achieve the highest level of excellence if our patients are as relaxed and comfortable as possible.

*The effectiveness of diagnosis and treatment will vary by patient and condition. New York Spine Institute does not guarantee certain results.
