Physical therapy is a mandatory part of your rehabilitation process. It is necessary to help enhance patient movement and mobility, decrease pain, restore function, and help to limit disability in individuals with injuries or impairments. * Here at NYSI, our dedicated back specialists offer our Ronkonkoma patients personalized PT plans. We also take pride in our top-rated physical therapy team and in its leader, Michael Friar, D.P.T.
Michael Friar exhibits the highest level of commitment to his patients and provides superior, comprehensive physical therapy treatment options to patients that are specific to their individual needs. Patients are instructed on proper stretching, exercise, and manual therapy and are advised on body mechanics, postural awareness, and exercises that can be done at home. All of these specialized exercises aid in their rehabilitation, improve health and prevent re injury. Our PT team combines cardio and weight machines to target strength and endurance training for all our PT patients.
Patients must first undergo a full evaluation by one of our physical therapists. The physical therapist will then determine present functioning levels, pain thresholds and physical restrictions before they can prescribe a personalized PT program specific to the patient’s individual needs. Once the evaluation is completed, Michael Friar will then determine the best treatment options for you and will assign a series of practical goals for you to achieve over time.
IMAGING SERVICES FOR RONKONKOMA PATIENTS
At NYSI we are equipped with the most innovative, state of the art radiology department. The department includes magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) that is both safe and noninvasive and provides images needed for diagnosing a variety of conditions. The diagnostic imaging allows doctors to determine appropriate personalized care and treatment plans for our Ronkonkoma patients while providing radiologists with the tools they need to analyze various bone and soft tissue anatomies.
The department is also equipped with Digital Radiography (DX) x-rays and a high field short bore 1.5T MRI system that supports a variety of clinical applications, including MRI’s of the Spine, Brain, Abdomen, Pelvis, Shoulder, Knee, Hip, Elbow, Wrist, Hand, Ankle and Foot.*
The GE 1.5T system provides physicians with vivid images of anatomy and pathology that they need in order to evaluate a number of musculoskeletal disorders.
The Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) utilizes both magnetism and radio waves to produce images of various body parts that help back doctors to identify certain diseases which may not be otherwise visible with other imaging methods such as x-ray, ultrasound or CT (Computed Tomography). * The department is also equipped with Long Length Imaging (LLI) for appropriate assessments of scoliosis.
