Patients who have undergone surgery are made to understand the important role that physical therapy plays in their overall rehabilitation. Many of our Wyandanch patients who have undergone minimally invasive surgeries understand that they too require effective physical therapy to aid them in their movement and mobility, decrease pain, restore function, and to limit disability for those patients with injuries or impairments.*
Our team of physical therapists, led by our licensed physical therapist, Michael Friar, D.P.T. is dedicated to providing patients with the highest quality physical therapy treatments. Patients receive instructions on proper stretching, exercise, and manual therapy and are taught to understand the importance of body mechanics, postural awareness, and exercises that can be done at home that not only help with their healing process but assist in preventing reinjury.
Here at the NYSI we utilize cardio and weight machines to target strength and endurance training for all our Wyandanch patients who are undergoing physical therapy and remain committed to providing all our valued patients the best treatment options needed and practical goals for them to achieve.
IMAGING SERVICES FOR WYANDANCH PATIENTS
The radiology department here at the NYSI is state of the art and includes a high field short bore 1.5T Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) system which is effective in diagnosing many conditions and supports a wide range of clinical applications including, but not limited to, MRIs of the spine, brain, abdomen, pelvis, shoulder, hip, knee, elbow, wrist, hand, ankle, and foot*.
Utilizing magnetism and radio waves the MRI system produces detailed images that doctors can use to evaluate various parts of the body and determine the presence of certain diseases which may not be visible with other imaging methods such as x-ray, ultrasound or CT (Computed Tomography).*
The radiology department here at the NYSI is also equipped with Long Length Imaging (LLI) for proper scoliosis assessment and a digital radiography department that is used to capture digital images that radiologists use to analyze bone and soft tissue anatomy for diagnosis.
