What Is a Laminectomy?
Laminectomy is a type of spinal decompression surgery that removes a portion of the vertebra, known as the lamina, to alleviate pressure on spinal nerves. It’s commonly used when conditions like spinal stenosis or disc herniation narrow the spinal canal and cause pain, weakness, or mobility issues.
Conditions We Treat with Laminectomy:
- Spinal stenosis (cervical or lumbar)
- Herniated or bulging discs
- Spondylolisthesis (vertebral slippage)
- Bone spurs from arthritis
- Degenerative disc disease
- Chronic sciatica or radiculopathy
