What Is Cervical Radiculopathy?
Cervical radiculopathy occurs when a nerve root in the cervical spine (neck) becomes compressed or inflamed. This can lead to a range of symptoms, including:
- Sharp or burning neck pain radiating into the shoulder, arm, or hand
- Numbness, tingling, or “pins and needles” sensations
- Muscle weakness or decreased coordination in the upper extremities
- Pain that worsens with certain neck movements
Common causes include:
- Herniated discs
- Spinal stenosis (narrowing of nerve passageways)
- Degenerative disc disease
- Bone spurs (osteophytes)
- Neck trauma or repetitive strain
At NYSI, we focus on early diagnosis and comprehensive care to alleviate pain and prevent long-term complications.
