Understanding Spinal Tumors
Spinal tumors are abnormal tissue growths located in or near the spinal column. They may vary by type and location:
- Benign (noncancerous) or malignant (cancerous)
- Primary tumors, originating in the spine, or secondary tumors, spreading from other cancers such as lung, breast, or prostate
- Located inside the spinal cord, within the spinal canal, or in the vertebrae surrounding the spine
These tumors can compress nerves, threaten spinal stability, and impair neurological function—making early diagnosis and treatment essential.
