Pain management is an important component of any patient’s treatment. Here at the NYSI our back pain doctors take time to educate all our Blue Point patients on the concept of pain management and the role it will play in achieving their health goals. Each of our back pain doctors and surgeons have undergone specialized education which includes assessing, diagnosing and managing various types of pain as well as training in the newest technologies, treatment options and medical diagnostics related to back and neck pain issues.*
Blue Point patients seen here at the NYSI are offered a variety of treatment options, which include:• Injection therapies• Radiofrequency procedures• Spinal cord stimulation• Intrathecal device implementation• State-of-the-art fluoroscopy and endoscopy for great accuracy and precision• Ketamine infusion therapy for treatment of neuropathic pain syndromes such as CRPS.
Additionally, the doctors and specialists here at NYSI prescribe physical therapy treatments that help patients enjoy a successful rehabilitation and quick road to recovery. When patients undergo surgeries, whether minimally invasive or invasive, their surgeries are followed by physical therapy necessary for recovery and often times that therapy assists patients with movement and mobility, decrease pain, restores function, and limits disability in individuals with injuries or impairments.*
Our licensed physical therapist, Michael Friar, D.P.T., leads our team of professional therapists and works closely with all of our dedicated back doctors in providing personalized physical therapy treatments which often include proper stretching, exercise, and manual therapy as well as instructions on the use of home exercises, body mechanics and postural awareness, all of which help in preventing injuries from recurring. Doctors explain all the important details about pain source and treatment options available and stress over and over again the importance of following your physical therapy plan.
Physical therapy prescribed by Michael Friar includes a combination of cardio and weight machines to target strength and endurance training. Our Blue Point patients are properly evaluated by one of our licensed physical therapists so as to determine pain thresholds, current functioning levels, and any physical restrictions that may exist. Once this evaluation is completed a personalized PT plan can be put in place. Following this evaluation and its assessment, patients are then prescribed their personalized PT plan that focuses on patients forward goals.

Our facility here at the NYSI is equipped with a state of the art radiology department that includes Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) for diagnosing many types of conditions. We are also equipped with an innovative Digital Radiography (DX) x-ray which, like the MRI, is safe and noninvasive. Our digital radiology department provides our back doctors and radiologists with all the tools they need to analyze images for bone and soft tissue anatomy.
The MRI system which is a high field short bore 1.5T system supports a wide range of clinical applications including but not limited to MRI’s of the Spine, Brain, Abdomen, Pelvis, Shoulder, Knee, Hip, Elbow, Wrist, Hand, Ankle and Foot and helps doctors to evaluate a wide range of musculoskeletal disorders.* The MRI has proven very valuable for diagnosing a broad range of conditions which may not be visible with other imaging methods such as x-ray, ultrasound or CT (Computed Tomography).*
We are also equipped with Long Length Imaging (LLI) for diagnosis and assessment of scoliosis patients. Our primary goal here at the NYSI is to provide all our Blue Point patients with proper care and personalized treatment plans that will contribute to their overall recovery. Patients are afforded a relaxing and calming environment and are allowed a choice of music, earplugs and a sleeping mask to make them feel every bit at home.
