“I was having severe chronic back pain daily. This went on for almost fifteen years. As soon as I met Dr. Macagno I said, “that’s the guy.” I eventually had a spinal fusion L4/5 and S1. This was a ten-hour procedure. I exceeded both Dr. Macagno and the hospital staff expectations. Instead of walking a few steps, I easily walked the full length of the hospital halls and climbed stairs almost immediately after surgery. I am so happy to have met Dr. Macagno. I sing his praises every day and I always post on social media about how amazing I am doing every year on the anniversary of my surgery.”

Dr.v is a great doctor !!! From day one he has accessed and managed my pain while acknowledging me not only as his patient but as a person as well. Every Dr office should have a Dr. V and the world for patients with pain would be a much better place. I haven’t had a Dr this great since Dr de Mourra who did my surgery In 2013. Thank you Dr de Mourra for referring me to a pain management dr who really cares for my needs as his patient. It has been a tough road . I can now honestly say the road I travel now as a pain patient is much smoother and manageable. Thank you Dr v and NYU.
It can feel debilitating if you have suffered from any sort of musculoskeletal and orthopedic injury. And ideally, you probably want a solution that is both minimally invasive and non-surgical. Thankfully, our patients in the Yonkers area now have access to our world-class licensed physical therapist – Michael Friar. Physical therapy is designed to help decrease pain, restore function, and prevent disability.
We also offer it because it could help with any injuries or impairments. Exercises are typically based on stretching, modalities, and manual therapy. Patients are taught proper body mechanics and postural awareness. Every patient also even receives a home-based routine that helps them to maintain these skills. These routines also may help your recovery and prevent relapses. And when you’re not at home, you’ll have access to our weight machines.
The first step in our process is to be evaluated by one of our licensed physical therapists. They will assess your current level of function and pain intensity. They will also consider how much your pain affects your day-to-day life. Then, our resident Michael Friar, D.P.T. will suggest treatment options available to the patient. With him, you will try to set realistic goals for your life and work to develop the most optimal regimen.
IMAGING SERVICES FOR YONKERS PATIENTS
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is useful for diagnosing many conditions. It is safe and noninvasive and helps NYSI to uphold its mission of treating patients with comfort. The digital radiology department allows the radiologist to analyze images for bone and soft tissue anatomy. NYSI diagnostic imaging provides individualized care as well as state-of-the-art diagnostics. The Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine was invented in 1977 and has since revolutionized medical practices everywhere. It is a useful, non-invasive, and safe way to help diagnose conditions. Our MRI machine in Yonkers will give our doctors the tools that they need to analyze your bones and soft tissue anatomy.
Our office in Yonkers has state-of-the-art and technologically advanced diagnostic tools. In addition to our 1.5 MRI system, we also have a Digital Radiography (DX) x-ray. Our high-field short bore 1.5 MRI system supports many clinical situations. We can do MRI scans of the spine, brain, abdomen, pelvis, shoulder, knee, hip, elbow, wrist, ankle, and even the foot! New York Spine Institute’s brand-new GE 1.5 system will also provide our physicians with their best images yet. With this system, our doctors will be able to see high-quality and detailed pictures of your condition. That way, they can try to more accurately diagnose and eventually treat your back pain.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) uses magnetism and radio waves to produce detailed images of the body. It is extremely safe, non-invasive, and helpful to physicians. Many times, an MRI scan will pick up the presence of a certain disease when other tools such as x-rays cannot. We know that spine and neck treatment can be scary. But we care about you and don’t want you to be nervous! So we have made our office in Brentwood as calming as possible. When you come here, you will have access to relaxing music, earplugs, and even sleeping masks. You’ll feel right at home.
Our office in Yonkers is even outfitted with its own digital radiology department. In this part of our practice, the images are digitized and radiologists can analyze bone and soft tissue. As part of this, we also offer Long Length Imaging (LLI) for proper scoliosis assessment.
*The effectiveness of diagnosis and treatment will vary by patient and condition. New York Spine Institute does not guarantee certain results.
