Dylan works closely with the NYSI supervising physicians, to provide comprehensive nonsurgical and perioperative care for patients to obtain the best possible outcomes.

Dylan O’Rourke has been involved in the medical field since he was 14 years old, volunteered at Nassau University Medical Center at age 14 and completed a home health aide course at age 15. Dylan was first inspired to be a PA while taking an undergraduate introductory course in respiratory care at Stony Brook Health Science’s Center. Before class, he stumbled upon the Physician Assistant Program’s classroom where a professor encouraged him to apply for the PA program. The following year, he was the youngest accepted applicant for Stony Brook’s PA program.

During his clinical rotations, he fell in love with orthopedic surgery while assisting during total joint replacement surgery. “It was like performing carpentry to the human anatomy with science, medicine and technology coming together to renew and restore patient’s active lifestyles and improve quality of life.”

Since graduating from Stony Brook University Health Sciences Center in 2002, Dylan has worked in multiple outpatient and inpatient settings and has extensive experience in general orthopedic surgery, sports medicine, spine, total joint replacement surgery, physiatry and pain management. He is an active member of professional societies including the American Academy of Physician Assistants and National Commission for the Certification of Physician Associates/Physician Assistants.
