“NYSI has built a comprehensive, state-of-the-art practice that delivers high-quality care spanning all aspects of orthopedic and spinal medicine. We are proud to bring this expertise to Mercy Medical Center through a shared vision to build an orthopedic and spine Center of Excellence,” said Dr. de Moura.

“The partnership between NYSI and Mercy will offer patients on Long Island and surrounding areas the ability to receive unparalleled routine and cutting-edge orthopedic treatment, including complex surgical procedures, right in their own community,” said Dr. Corso

In addition to NYSI, Dr. de Moura is currently an assistant clinical professor of Orthopedic Surgery at NY Medical Center and a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery and North American Spine Society.  He also held clinical positions at Winthrop University Hospital and Hospital for Joint Disease. I’m confident that their proven track record of excellent care will help elevate Mercy as a leading institution for orthopedics,” said Mercy Medical Center President Peter Scaminaci.

Orthopedics involves the diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and prevention of injuries or diseases of the musculoskeletal system. This includes all bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles, and nerves. Orthopedic specialists care for people of all ages—from children who break bones playing soccer to the elderly suffering from arthritis.
