NYSI Physician to Lead Orthopedics at Mercy Medical Center

Meet Alexandre B. de Moura, MD, an internationally recognized leader in spinal wellness, who founded New York Spine Institute located in Westbury as a means for bringing his affiliation with NYU Hospital for Joint Disease and other world renown specialists home to Long Island.

NY Spine Institute (NYSI) doctor Alexandre B. de Moura, MD has been named director of Orthopedic Surgery at Mercy Medical Center, a member of Catholic Health Services. De Moura brings extensive experience and robust credentials to the medical center.

Dr. de Moura, the founder and medical director of the NYSI, is a board-certified, AN internationally recognized leader with advanced training in bone and neurological disorders of the spine. 

“NYSI has built a comprehensive, state-of-the-art practice that delivers high-quality care spanning all aspects of orthopedic and spinal medicine. In addition to NYSI, Dr. de Moura is currently an assistant clinical professor of Orthopedic Surgery at NY Medical Center and a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery and North American Spine Society.  He also held clinical positions at Winthrop University Hospital and Hospital for Joint Disease. Dr. de Moura earned his medical degree from Chicago Medical School and completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the Temple University Medical Center. He completed his fellowship in Orthopedic and Neurosurgical Spine Surgery at the NYU Langone Medical Center. Dr. de Moura currently resides in Garden City, NY.
